Shared note
Served as Regimental Sergeant Major, in Royal Durban Light Infantry regiment during WW2. Later farmed bananas at Marina Beach, Natal, South Africa (Farm Grassmere, subdivision 42 of 2). After his death the farm was sold for R135,000.00. Oom Hansie was an open friendly, likeable man. Loved to tell stories, especially about the family. Had an infectious laugh.
